From Dublin to Perth!

Hello hello! Here I am, back in Perth! I arrived here on the first hours of last Monday and I’ve been busy doing all the boring stuff right away in the beginning. I’ve got myself an Aussie bank account, tax file number and Medicare card in case of doctors appointments. And also a job! Last Tuesday I was on an interview and I started on Wednesday. It is at a sandwich place called Croissant Express. The job is about making sandwiches, surprise surprise. The best thing about the job is the hours. Today I worked from 10 to 2 and next week only 4 (short) days. And I get to do my own lunch if I’m allowed for a break. I actually just realized that I forgot to check what time I should go to work on Monday! Shit, it's hard to remember that I don't do flexible hours anymore.

But before Australia I was in Dublin for a couple of days. I stayed at my friends place and we had a great week. Saw some Dublin attractions (Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College, Dublin itself), had a lot to eat, slept much and most importantly (of course after seeing each other after a while) the Cat Empire concert on Friday!! We were really looking forward to it and the concert was truly amazing. Felix Riebl is just gorgeous in every way and Harry J Angus is amazing with his trumpet and his voice. The band is awesome on album and live they're even better. So if they're playing somewhere even remotely on the way, we ARE going to see them, there's no question about that! Dublin itself was a disappointment, but I did have an awesome week, even though I was a bit sick. Had a cold in the head since the Friday before Dublin and tried to get better before the gig. That’s part of the reason why we took things slow in Dublin and had a lot to sleep and eat. But I’m all well now, thanks for taking care of me, Frank!

Here in Australia I’ve been surprised on how much paperwork I’ve done so far. Yesterday I was going through papers I got from work. I thought there would be a contract somewhere in all those papers (there was at least 5 sheets) but couldn’t find it. Instead, I had to sign my name into papers regarding things like “the employee understands that she might get hurt if she is careless with knives” and I had to fill in a test about food safety. I guess in this country contracts aren’t as vital as knowing if pets spread diseases or not...

Anyway, it’s been good so far, mainly doing paperwork and the actual work. Unfortunately it seems that me and my friend Teija (who I’m staying with) only seldom seem to have the same day off from work, which really is a shame. But we’ll definitely get some time off together at some point! Today it’s a bit colder, only +21 Celsius but next week should be hotter. I wanted to upload some photos from my trip so far but for some reason this laptop don’t recognise my camera...shame. I’ll come back to that later. But for some visual stimulation, here’s something we experienced last Friday, Boom shak!
